SRS

SRS staat voor Supplemental Restraint System, wat een cruciaal onderdeel is van de moderne autoveiligheid. Dit systeem omvat de airbags in uw voertuig en is ontworpen om aanvullende bescherming te bieden tijdens een aanrijding. Het woord 'supplementair' is hierbij essentieel: het SRS-systeem is niet bedoeld ter vervanging van de veiligheidsgordel, maar om ermee samen te werken. De veiligheidsgordel is de primaire veiligheidsvoorziening, terwijl het SRS-systeem een extra beschermingslaag biedt bij ernstigere impacts. Het systeem bestaat uit diverse componenten, zoals airbags (voor, zij, gordijn en soms knie-airbags), sensoren die plotselinge vertraging of impact detecteren, gordelspanners die de gordels direct aanspannen bij een botsing, en regelmodules die de status van het systeem bewaken en de airbagontplooiing aansturen. Veel autofabrikanten gebruiken SRS-componenten die als hoogwaardige auto-onderdelen bekend staan.

SRS: Essentiële Auto-onderdelen voor Veiligheid

De ontwikkeling van het SRS-systeem heeft de afgelopen decennia een enorme vlucht genomen. Mercedes-Benz introduceerde in 1981 de eerste productieauto met SRS-airbags voor de bestuurdersstoel. Sindsdien zijn airbags uitgegroeid tot een standaard veiligheidsfunctie in vrijwel elke auto. De technologie achter het SRS-systeem is complex en omvat sensoren, een controle-eenheid en de airbags zelf, strategisch geplaatst in het voertuig, zoals het stuurwiel, het dashboard en de stoelen. Bij een botsing detecteren de sensoren de impact en sturen een signaal naar de controle-eenheid, die de ernst van de botsing bepaalt en beslist of de airbags moeten worden geactiveerd. De airbags vullen zich razendsnel met lucht om inzittenden te beschermen en letsel te minimaliseren. Deze auto-onderdelen zijn van vitaal belang voor de verkeersveiligheid.
