De Civic Type R heeft een lange geschiedenis van het laten zien van het maximale potentieel dat Honda op zijn Civic-platform kan bereiken. Wij hier in de Verenigde Staten hebben echter nooit de gelegenheid gehad om Honda's heetste hatchbacks te ervaren totdat de FK8 zijn weg over de Stille Oceaan bereikte. Gelukkig hebben de OEM-ingenieurs de basis gelegd voor ons om een aluminium loper van de turbo aan de inductielaars te bevestigen. Dit betekende dat we ons alleen moesten concentreren op wat aan het einde van de hardloper was bevestigd. Om te beginnen hebben we de turbulentie genererende, accordeonvormige inlaatslang gedumpt en vervangen door 5 lagen siliconen ingebed met hittebestendige vezels.

Onze nieuwe en verbeterde slang is ook versterkt met staaldraad, zodat deze zijn vorm behoudt, zelfs onder de indrukwekkende boost die de K20C1 uitstraalt. Naast het versterken van de inlaatlaars, hebben we er ook voor gezorgd dat de diameter is vergroot en het interieur is gladgestreken, wat de algehele 42% toename van de stroom door het volledige systeem enorm helpt. De andere bijdragende factoren aan onze toename van de luchtstroom zijn onze precisie aangepaste MAF-behuizing en verbeterde airbox.

We zijn begonnen door eerst de twee van elkaar te scheiden en vervolgens de MAF-behuizing opnieuw te ontwerpen om een grotere stroom te garanderen, maar ook om veilige brandstofversnellingsperimeters te behouden en het controlelampje vrij te laten lopen op de standaardtune. Onze airbox groeide in omvang om plaats te bieden aan ons vrijer stromende filter, en bevat de fabrieks rubberen snorkel die het speciale inlaatkanaal vastzet in de kap van de CTR. The Civic Type R has a long history of showing off the maximum potential that Honda can achieve on its Civic platform. However, we here in the States never had the opportunity to experience Honda's hottest hatchbacks until the FK8 made its way across the Pacific Ocean. Even though the CTR is the cream of the crop when it comes to Honda's compact chassis, it?s still a mass-produced car, meaning there is still room to improve, especially when it comes to the intake system. Luckily, the OEM engineers laid the ground work for us attaching an aluminum runner from the turbo to the induction boot. This meant we only had to focus on what was attached to the end of the runner. For starters, we ditched the turbulence generating, accordion-styled intake hose and replaced it with 5 layers of silicone embedded with heat-resistant fibers. Our new and improved hose is also reinforced with steel wire ensuring that it keeps its shape even under the impressive boost the K20C1 puts out. On top of strengthening the intake boot, we've also made sure to increase the diameter and smooth out the interior which greatly assists the overall 42% increase in flow throughout the full system. The other contributing factors to our air flow increase are our precision adjusted MAF housing and improved airbox. We started by first separating the two, and then redesigning the MAF housing to ensure an increased flow but also retain safe fuel trim perimeters and run check engine light free on the stock tune. Our airbox grew in size to accommodate our freer flowing filter, and retains the factory rubber snorkel securing the dedicated intake channel incorporated in the CTR's hood. Combining all of these improvements unlocks a max gain of 16.7 whp and 20.1 wtq from your 2.0T.
